Public Transport Etiquette
A few things to remember the next time your on public transport.
For passengers
- Don't put your feet on the seats
- Don't block the doors or stairs
- If an elderly person or pregnant woman gets on offer a seat if there aren't any available
- No one cares what Jenny said to Sally so keep your voice down, especially on mobiles (your louder than you think)
- Offer the space available to people with push chairs and wheelchair's
- Don't bring alcohol on board, if it spills it stinks the place up
- Don't eat smelly food, people don't want to be smelling of donar kebab
- Don't try to sneak on and pretend not to hear the driver when he/she tells you to get off
For drivers
- Wait until all passengers are on the bus before closing the doors
- Wait until all passengers are off the bus before closing the doors
- If someone runs upto the bus and you've already closed the doors open them again. It may be sometime before another bus comes
- When someone presses the bell, stop so they can get off the bus (happend to me today driver claims I didn't give him enough time but I did.)
- Drive carefully, you driving a bus not a formula1 racing car
- Drive a little faster its a bus not a tractor
- Don't use a mobile phone, many lives are in your hands
- When changing drivers don't use it as an opportunity to catch up on the gossip. Switch driver and continue the journey, people have places to go.
Thats all I can think of, my class starts soon so ill leave you to ponder the above.
